MINI to launch its electric cars in 2019
One of the biggest moves by the MINI was an announcement that it would be releasing an electric car in 2019. A preview of its design has already been revealed in September 2017 by the parent company of MINI, BMW, during Frankfurt Auto Show.
The car will have electric drivetrain of BMW i3. Therefore, one can expect a similar performance, which consists of 114-miles per charge.
As per BMW, the electrified vehicles will account for its sales in the range of 15 to 25 percent by 2025.
This car will have circular headlights and hexagonal grille. As the electric motor requires quite less cooling, the grille will come with a striking yellow accent bar having an E badge. The rear will have a fiberglass diffuser and air deflectors.
This is not the first time that the company has ventured into production of electric vehicles. In 2008, the company had launched MINI E, which was a limited-run test vehicle. The aim was to analyze the possibilities related to electric cars. The insights and data collected from the trial were used in making i3. One can, therefore, expect that MINI EV will be tried and tested and will offer the best experience to the drivers.
We are already excited for this project by MINI. We also hope that this move will bring a paradigm shift in the world of automobiles.
